Laura Valldecabres, AWESOME researcher, wins 3rd place 9ENERGY Student Presentation Award at the AMS conference in Austin, Texas, USA

At the American Meteorology Society Meeting held in Austin, Laura Valldecabres’ presentation at the Ninth Conference on Weather, Climate and the New Energy Economy received 3rd place for ‘Best Oral Presentation’ in the 9ENERGY Student Presentation Award.

The AMS Meeting is the world’s largest annual meeting for the weather, water, and climate community. The theme for 2018 was “Transforming Communication in the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise”, which highlights the importance of effectively communicating research to stakeholders.

The conference gathered more than 4,000 scientists, educators, students, and other professionals from across the weather, water, and climate fields in Austin, Texas, USA from 7–11 January, 2018.

Laura’s presentation was entitled ‘Very Short-term Wind Power Forecasting using Remote Sensing Data: Experiments with a LIDAR Simulator’ and was based on the results of her PhD study with ForWind, Oldenburg. More information can be found at: https://annual.ametsoc.org/
